BREAST RECONSTRUCTION

Breast reconstruction is a procedure in which all or part of the breast(s) are rebuilt following their removal due to cancer or another serious condition. This is a highly customized procedure; during your consultation, Dr. English will examine your breasts and determine the surgical plan that is best for you. He may also order X-rays or a mammogram to guide him in developing this surgical plan.

During the initial fat grafting consultation, Dr. English will analyze your face and discuss your objectives. He will also review your medical history and lifestyle choices while conducting a physical exam to determine your skin quality, elasticity, and thickness for optimal results. You may be a candidate for fat grafting surgery if you:
-
have had all or part of one breast removed and feel lopsided as a result;
-
are self-conscious about your flat chest and would like to regain your old figure;
-
have fully completed cancer treatment and have been told by your primary care physician that your disease is in remission;
-
are in good physical and mental health, with good elasticity of the skin;
-
are a non-smoker or committed to refraining from smoking;
-
have realistic expectations of the outcome of your fat grafting surgery; and
-
understand the recovery process.
