WHAT IS A BREAST LIFT?

It is an unfortunate fact that a woman’s breasts will begin to sag as she gets older. The aging process causes the skin to lose elasticity, leading to a loss in firmness and shape. This problem isn’t confined to just older women, as females who develop sooner than others may naturally have sagging breasts. Other conditions such as pregnancy and breastfeeding can take their toll on the breasts as well, causing them to sag much sooner than most women would like. A breast lift (mastopexy) performed by Dr. English could be the answer for many ladies.

SHOULD I CONSIDER A BREAST LIFT?

You may desire a breast lift if:

  • Your nipple and areola sag a great deal below your breast mound.

  • The distance between your collarbone and nipples is greater than 22 centimeters.

  • A majority of your breast tissue sits below the inframammary crease, or fold just beneath your breast.

HOW IS A BREAST LIFT PERFORMED?

A variety of techniques may be used to perform a breast lift; however, Dr. English’s philosophy is to complete the procedure in such a way that his Little Rock patients experience as little scarring as possible. Depending upon your anatomy, he may use only a crescent incision above the areola, or make a lollipop-shaped cut that goes completely around your areola and then continues vertically down the center of your breast. He sometimes modifies these incisions, particularly when additional procedures are performed concurrently or being planned for a future date.

During your consultation, which will take place in his office, Dr. English will advise you which procedure he thinks is best. At that time, he will discuss the various types of breast lifts, and will go over any additional procedures you want done so that they can be considered as factors as well.

If you would like to look and feel your very best, contact us today to schedule a consultation with Dr. English. We look forward to seeing you!
